The gothic church of St. Mary in Gdansk is said to be the largest brick church in Europe, dating from 1343. It dominates the skyline of old town, and offers spectacular vistas of the entire city. More than 400 steps to the top, the climb to the top of the tower
is well worth the effort. The building is not easy to photograph due to its immense size and close proximity to other buildings. I spent the afternoon exploring the outside of the building in advance of the concert we were to sing there that evening. |
