Again, as if just being in Helsinki is not exotic enough, the Russian influence adds just that extra air to the city. While I doubt any of the people in the Baltic region are comfortable with past experiences with Russian aggression, the Finns are less openly hostile towards Russian influences. Saslik is one of many restaurants serving Russian cuisine. I had Chicken Kiev, and Launa Rae had Sauerkraut Croquets. Both were absolutely wonderful. I'm sorry now I didn't get a picture. The live entertainment (guitar and vocal soloist) was very good. Food service on the entire trip was extremely slow. Our dinner experience at Saslik took more than two and a half hours, and even then we had to ask for the check. But hey, we had more sights to see before it got dark! We left the restaurant sometime around 8:30 pm, and still had 2 hours before dark to walk the 3 miles back to our hotel by way of the University observatory, taking pictures all the way...
