Scotty's Castle Interior
I took a lot of pictures inside the Castle. It was a particularly difficult lighting situation. To avoid harsh shadows I tried to use bounce flash as much as possible. Unfortunately the ceilings were very dark and not a lot of light bounced. Windows were covered with very heavy blankets, to keep the heat out I presume, but allowed very bright light to leak in around the edges, yet not enough to make the room bright enough for photography. Shooting at a high ISO allowed the weak bounce flash to register, but also allowed the incandescent lighting to also color the image along with natural light from the edges of the windows. The resulting color temperature conflicts were difficult to resolve. Images that were totally irreconcilable were just converted to black and white. Then there were the ones I just threw away...
