Petrified ripples | |
When I first saw these years ago I didn't give them much thought. But, looking more closely - the ripples are stone, and they are embedded between layers of stone, AND, there are multiple and alternating layers of ripples and black stone. Online research on a geology site indicates the rock is limestone, which is an uncommon material for preserving current ripples like these more commonly preserved in sandstone or shale. | |
