Pillars of Rome

An old lake bed | |
The Pillars are formed from the eroded bed of an ancient lake. The entire formation covers an area 5 miles long and 2 miles wide and consists of exposed fossil-bearing clay. This view is of the eastern edge. One section is eroded badlands around to the north, and not readily accessible to the public. As far as I can tell, much of the formation is on private land. | |
