My association with Toadstool park goes back nearly 40 years. I criss-crossed this region in the early 80s with nothing more than a Rand-McNally road atlas and a little blue dot indicating the location, but without success. On one trip I actually found a sign pointing to the area, but again coming up empty. This time, with the help of Google Earth, GPS, and many more paved roads in the region, we drove right to it. After 40 years of search I was a little concerned it might not live up to my imagination. Fortunately my expectations were exceeded many times over!
