Silene acaulis is one of my favorite flowers, being a fairly common North American alpine species. It is found virtually everywhere in Iceland. It is so prevelant, in fact, that I completely neglected to take a close-up picture of it. That's it, there in the middle, surrounded by Thrift (Armaria) and Trailing Azalea (Loiseleuria).
