Grand Canyon Tour

March 19 - 26, 2014

This was a combo tour consisting of a road trip, a hiking trip and vehicle recovery effort. Well, OK, a broken window hardly qualifies as a serious recovery issue, but it was a part of the journey nonetheless.

The road trip portion began with a back-roads exploration of south central Oregon, northwestern Nevada and California's Death Valley. When we arrived at the Grand Canyon we donned out backpacks and embarked on phase two of the adventure. Here's how it went down.

Day 1 - Portland, OR to Alturas, CA via Hole in the Ground, Fort Rock, Crack in the Ground, Doughnut Mountain and Lake Albert
Day 2 - Alturas, CA to Tonopah, NV via Lund Petrified Forest, Grimes Point, Sand Mountain and Berlin
Day 3 - Tonopah, NV to Peach Springs, AZ via Rhyolite, Death Valley and Hoover Dam
Day 4 - Peach Springs to Haulapai Hilltop, Hike to Supai
Day 5 & 6 - The Falls
Day 7 - Supai, AZ to Lone Pine, CA via Death Valley
Day 8 - Lone Pine, CA to Sacramento, CA via Mono Lake
