5102. Niagara River and Goat Island Bridge
After descending over the Upper Rapids the waters of the Niagara
River calm down to a more quiet course. Goat Island --whereto a beautifully
constructed bridge gives easy access from Prospect Park --divides the water
masses into two separate streams for a short course, only to reunite in
a tumultuous whirl as the waters of the American Falls and those of the
Horseshoe Falls join into one forceful torrent racing through the Great
Niagara Gorge on towards Lake Ontario --the entire course presenting a
spectacle of unparalleled grandeur.
