Black Rock, on the Western Pacific R. R., is one of the landmarks of the Mormon Pioneers.  It rises out of the Great Salt Lake, a few hundred feet from the southern shore.  The Great Salt Lake covers an approximate area of 2,140 square miles being 50 miles wide and 75 miles long.  The water of the lake is 21% salt, affording the most delightful bathing in the world.
