Polygonatum biflorum
Solomon's Seal
05/02/2005
A lot of sources talk about 'Solomon's Seal' being the Star-of-David shaped
stem
scar on
the rhizome,
but if you ask me,
it's right there in the flower...
almost open - 04/27/2005
more than twice as tall as last year.

Another stem emerging 05/02/2005
Really, an odd arrangement for a plant - an alternating ladder of leaves along a
single
stem that gently arches from the ground and then lays out horizontally
for
nearly 24 inches. Blooms emerge from where the leaf joins the stem.
2006 - Three very robust stems emerged this spring! Seemed to really
like the cold
winter that killed the tree fern next to it.
