The Five-finger Fern is a close relative of the popular 'Maidenhair Fern.' It is easy to grow
in damp shady places. It likes lots of light and warmth but little direct sun. It can grow to
be 24 inches tall or more under ideal conditions, but will tolerate a wide variety of locations.
SLUG ALERT: This plant will likely not survive beyond its first spring if not protected from slugs.
The tender new growth is just too tempting and even a large healthy plant can be destroyed in a
single season. Once the leaves reach full height they are no longer attractive to slugs and
protection is no longer required.
