16. This Bush Thick-knee was wandering around Cairns in the vacinity of our resort. We saw it the first time running down the street in the dark at about 10pm. It had long legs and preferred to walk rather than fly. When approached it spread its wings like this and hissed like a cat.
17. When it thought we weren't paying attention, it crouched in the leaves and pretended we couldn't see it. I suppose there could have been a nest in the area.
